What will be covered?

Over the three days, we will be covering:

  •     the science of stress and resilience
  •     recognizing stress signals
  •     building somatic awareness
  •     increasing dexterity and neurophysical maturity
  •     fascia and the nervous system
  •     structural integration
  •     breathwork for neurological control
  •     periodic stress resets
  •     stress inoculation training
  •     stress maintenance, and building a regular routine

Who should attend?

This workshop is ideal for anyone working in a high-stress environment - whether independently employed, in the corporate realm, or facing family pressures at home.
Glenn has taught these methods to everyone frombusiness executives and teachers to SWAT teams and EMTs. Anyone can learn and benefit from these techniques.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the retreat?

The Kanuga Conference Center is located 30 mins south of Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), which receives direct flights from Chicago, New York, and Orlando, and daily connections through Charlotte and Atlanta. For those choosing to drive, there is ample parking available.

What should I bring to the event?

This is an all-inclusive event and everything from meals to meditation cushions are provided.  One of the benefits of the center is that it is quite secluded; this means that there are no nearby convenience stores or other shopping.  Thus, please be sure to pack toiletries, any medications you might require, sunscreen and bug spray, a flashlight for evening walks in the woods, and a journal.  Three meals a day are provided along with continuous coffee and tea service; if you would like mid-day or evening snacks, please be sure to bring those with you.

What if I have special dietary needs?

The center's dining plan accommodates most special dietary needs, such as gluten-free and vegetarian; a guest kitchen with a very small refrigerator is available for those with unique needs that cannot be serviced by the center's kitchen.

I want to share a room but I do not have a roommate - what are my options?

When you make your reservation, please request the double room rate, and a roommate of the same gender will be assigned to you.  Please note that you may be paired with a snorer or light sleeper.  If this will disturb your retreat experience, please reserve a single room, as room changes will not be possible on site.

Are exercise facilities available?

Movement and stretching sessions are built into the retreat curriculum, so don't worry - you'll end each day with a "good tired" feeling. But for those seeking additional exercise, the retreat center rests on over 1400 acres of beautiful woods that provide wonderful opportunities for walking and outdoor exercise.  Typical gym equipment, such as treadmills and stair climbers, are not available, so please plan accordingly.

May I bring my pet?

While pets are not permitted, trained service animals are of course welcome.  Trained service animals are different from emotional support animals in that they have been trained to perform a particular function or service to assist persons with disabilities.   Please notify the event organizer at least two weeks in advance of the event if you plan to attend with a trained service animal.

Are there age limit to enter the event?

This retreat is open to all adults over the age of 18.  Mature teenagers 16 years old and older may attend if accompanied by and rooming with a parent or guardian.

Is there internet access on the property?

At the main pavilion building, yes, but not in the individual cottages, and cell signals are patchy.
In any case, we recommend you rid yourself of these distracting temptations, and log off / switch off entirely for the duration of your stay. And please note that out of respect for the experience and privacy of fellow guests, we ask that you do not use your cell phone, camera, or recording devices of any kind in the public areas or the workshop sessions.

What are your payment and cancellation policies?

Payment is due in full at the time of registration.
All payments will be refunded in full, less a $50 processing fee, if you cancel 90 days or more prior to your arrival date.

If you cancel between 90 and 60 days prior to your arrival date, you may receive either a 75% refund or a 100% credit toward a future retreat.
If cancelled between 30 and 15 days of the event, you may choose wither a 50% refund or 100% transferable credit.

No credit or refund is available if you cancel with 15 days or less notice, if you do not show up, or if you have to depart early for any reason.

I prefer to pay by check.  How can I register?

All registrations, with full payment, must be received no later than 30 days prior to the event if paid by check.

Are packages offered for those wishing to register for the Spring and Fall retreats?

Attendees at the Spring retreat will be offered the opportunity to register for the Fall retreat at a discounted rate.  More details will be provided with your registration package.
